150 Alaska leaders have joined the coalition to defeat Ballot Measure 2

Campaign announces 50 new members from across the state

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (Oct. 1, 2026) — No on 2 announces 50 new coalition members, growing its membership to 150 Alaska leaders committed to defeating a repeal of our election system. The new members join an already diverse coalition, united across party lines, to protect Alaska’s dark money disclosure laws and open primaries on the November ballot.

If passed, Ballot Measure 2 will make it harder for voters to know who is spending in our elections. It would also change Alaska’s open primary, taking options away from voters and potentially locking out the 64% of Alaskan voters who do not belong to a political party.

These coalition members are voting NO on Ballot Measure 2 to protect Alaska’s independent spirit:

“Businesses invest where government is stable. Our election system rewards problem-solvers over partisans, and that’s good for Alaska’s economy. I’m voting No on 2,” said Jonathan Rubini from Anchorage, the chairman and CEO of JL Properties.

“My support is built around the belief that all Alaskans should have a choice and a voice in who represents them. Open primaries allow rugged, individual, free-thinking Alaskans to evaluate the candidates and vote for the person,” said Lesil McGuire of Anchorage, former Alaska State Senator and Representative and chair of the 2024 No on 2 campaign.

“I’m a lifelong Southeast Alaska resident and community leader. I’ll be voting No on 2 because I believe that two parties should not have control over Alaska’s future. Alaskans are independent by nature and our politics reflects this,” remarked Austin Otos, a leader from Ketchikan.

No on 2 welcomes the following 50 Alaskans to its existing coalition:
